How To Meditate

The Man Who Saw God Face To Face

Give ear, O my people, to my law;
Incline your ears to the words of my mouth
. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings of old,
3 Which we have heard and known,
And our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children,
Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD,
And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.
Psalms 78:1-4

The Meaning Of Meditation
         To meditate means to spend time to think about something, in privacy, in quietness and in silence.

The Best Way To Meditate
         Learn and practise the following best ways of meditation:
  1. Become like the baby, who does not concern himself with the cares and worries of everyday life.
    It does not mean that you should not work for a living. However, it means that you should not allow the things of the world to disturb you and take away your peace of mind. Many spoil their spiritual growth by:

  2. Begin to listen to silence, especially when you are alone.
    The more, the better. One day, you shall be surprised to see yourself doing great things in spirit, living like God, and even experiencing God.

  3. Avoid incessant (frequent) disturbances,
    like talkative people, nosy vibrations, booming sounds and bombarding music.

  4. Desire earnestly to go home - to return to heaven.
    For the world is a wasteland, intended to be a school for the children of God. Majority do not desire to return to heaven. They are more interested in the things of the world. They want to remain in the world. That is why God is asking, “Why do people make this world a place of residence?” – And He told the Israelites to live in tents while they were in the wilderness and to celebrate, annually, the feast of tabernacles, as a reminder that the world is not a place of permanent residence.

  5. Mellow down.
    Where and when you choose to listen to sounds and music, mellow it down. Do not allow it to be noisy or blasting.

  6. Spend time
    to think about God and all forms of Godliness.

  7. Read more of God.
    Read more of those portions of the scriptures that describes the qualities and ways of God. For example, when you have challenges, meditate on or pray with Psalm 93

    1 The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty;
    The LORD is clothed,
    He has girded Himself with strength.
    Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.
    2 Your throne is established from of old;
    You are from everlasting.

    3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD,
    The floods have lifted up their voice;
    The floods lift up their waves.
    4 The LORD on high is mightier
    Than the noise of many waters,
    Than the mighty waves of the sea.

    5 Your testimonies are very sure;
    Holiness adorns Your house,
    O LORD, forever.
    Psalms 93

    When you want to perform great exploits in spirit or you want to bind and cast out stubborn demons, pray or recite the following,

    7 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
    And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
    And the King of glory shall come in.
    8 Who is this King of glory?
    The LORD strong and mighty,
    The LORD mighty in battle.
    9 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
    Lift up, you everlasting doors!
    And the King of glory shall come in.
    10 Who is this King of glory?
    The LORD of hosts,
    He is the King of glory.
    Psalms 24:7-10

    Read, pray or recite this text three times, and the evil spirit will simply move away. You do not need to fight or kick.

  8. Encourage others.
    Encourage the ignorant masses to stop noise, ensure quietness and practice meditation.

  9. Hand over your problems.
    With prayers, hand over your problems to God. After all, your worries and anxieties do not provide any useful solutions to everyday problems of life.

Meditation Is The Ancient Path To The Knowledge Of The Truth
         The early church practiced meditation, until the anti-Christ crept in and gradually fazed out meditation. Then, people became spiritually blind, because they no longer hear, see or follow the direction of the Holy Spirit. For example, Apostle PAUL, enjoined Timothy to meditate.

14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. 15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. 16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. 1 Timothy 4:14-16

The Bible testifies that Isaac practiced meditation. “And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted his eyes and looked, and there, the camels were coming.” Genesis 24:63-64 The real problem with humanity is that majority do not read the scriptures, and among those who read, only very few practice what they read. King David understood the importance of meditation. He was able to write the psalms because he was accustomed to a habit of patient thinking – quiet meditation. He made this clear in the psalms, saying,

6 When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.
7 Because You have been my help,
Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.
8 My soul follows close behind You
(Always thinking about God);
Your right hand upholds me.
Psalms 63:6-8

Once more, he says,

6 I call to remembrance my song in the night;
I meditate within my heart,
And my spirit makes diligent search.
Psalms 77:6

Further, he writes,
147 I rise before the dawning of the morning,
And cry for help;
I hope in Your word.
148 My eyes are awake through the night watches,
That I may meditate on Your word.
Psalms 119:147-148

Even, he prayed for the spirit of meditation.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.
Psalms 19:14

The fact that churches do not teach their congregation about meditation is evidence by themselves, and against themselves, that they are not moving in spirit. Likewise, they do not teach about inspiration, holiness and visits to heaven.

Only a person full of the Holy Spirit could have written the psalms the way David did. He did it for the benefit of future generations. Moreover, having known the importance, he encourages others saying, “…Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.” Psalms 4:4

God encourages meditation. He said to Joshua (yourself), “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8 In psalm 46, He made it clear that only those who meditate do actually hear, see, experience and know God.

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
Psalms 46:10

Again, He confirms that inspiration of the Holy Spirit is available to those who meditate on His word. “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21 Unfortunately, majority would not be patient enough to hear from the Holy Spirit. They are always in a hurry. That is why both parents rush off to business every morning and return late in the night, without due consideration of the wellbeing of the children. Today, the worsening social relations bear evidence that people are not doing things the right way.

The Old Testament concludes with the book of Malachi, saying,

16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another,
And the LORD listened and heard them;
So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the LORD
And who meditate on His name.
Malachi 3:16

4 One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
5 I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty,
And on Your wondrous works.
6 Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts,
And I will declare Your greatness.
7 They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness,
And shall sing of Your righteousness.
Psalms 145:4-7
